David Anderle is name-checked on the cover of "Freak Out!" (1966) under the heading "Mothers' Auxiliary". He provided violin parts during the Freak Out! sessions.

During a "Freak Out!" session he told FZ: "I find your approach to music to be commensurate with the major motivational forces exemplified most manifestly in the 'tragicomic' aspects of the 'theatre of the absurd'", as noted on the cover of "Freak Out!" under the heading "Relevant Quotes".

Anderle became a record producer (sometimes "executive" producer) for artists like Judy Collins, Rita Coolidge, Chris De Burgh, Delaney & Bonnie ("Best of Delaney & Bonnie", 1990), Lee Hazlewood ("Cowboy in Sweden", 1970), Kris Kristofferson, Aaron Neville, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Booker T. Jones ("Try and Love Again", 1978), to name just a few. He also produced the original soundtrack of "Good Morning Vietnam" (1987), and he was the "supervisor" for the original soundtrack of "Untouchables" (1987, music by Ennio Morricone).
