Toto
Toto is an American rock group, best remembered for their hits Hold the Line (1978) and Africa (1983).
Frank Zappa
Frank Zappa parodied the group as Toad-O on his album Joe's Garage. During Crew Slut, the famous rock group is whispered by Zappa under his breath:"I don't know whether it was really Toad-O."
On the original LP, the track Toad-O-Line was an obvious pun on Toto and Hold The Line, complete with the instrumental subtly spoofing the same melody and chord progression. On later releases, the title was changed to On The Bus. In the liner notes, it is mentioned that Mary is "being porked by Toad-O's road crew" and then dumped in Miami.
Interestingly enough, Toto's lead singer and guitarist Steve Lukhater once auditioned for Zappa, but wasn't hired.
