Jeff Cotton, A.K.A. Antennae Jimmy Semens (May 31, 1948) was a singer and guitarist in Captain Beefheart's Magic Band between 1967 and 1970, succeeding Ry Cooder.
In 1969, during the Trout Mask Replica sessions, Cotton was also present. He can be heard having a phone conversation with Frank Zappa during The Blimp on Trout Mask Replica.
When Zappa relaunched his Captain Beefheart vs. The Grunt People project in 1969, Jeff Cotton was considered in a side role. However, after Captain Beefheart and Zappa had a fall-out over the disappointing sales of Trout Mask Replica, the project never went into production. [1]
