Jon Larsen.

Jon Larsen (January 7, 1959) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist, record producer and painter, active since 1976. He has his own jazz group, Hot Club de Norvège.

Frank Zappa

As a fan of Frank Zappa, he founded the label Zonic Entertainment to record musicians influenced by Zappa.

On his album, Strange News from Mars (2007), former Zappa members Tommy Mars, Bruce Fowler and Jimmy Carl Black performed. Some tracks on the album, like The Eons Are Closing, Air Sculpting in Vacuum, The Quilt, The Secret Word for Today and Conceptual Continuity on the Red Planet, Tax the Churches and Music Is The Best refers directly to concepts, lyrics and interview quotes by Frank Zappa. [1]

In 2008, Larsen also recorded a concept double album, The Jimmy Carl Black Story (2008). The first CD features music inspired by Frank Zappa, with references to his music (like, for instance, Capt. Zurcon and the Guacamole Queen). The second CD is a documentary about Jimmy Carl Black, narrated by the musician himself.[2]

In 2011, Larsen also released The Bunk Gardner Story, a concept album built around Bunk Gardner. Gardner contributed to the record, with musical accompaniment by Don Preston and engineering by Arthur Barrow. [3]

Larsen co-wrote Zappa I Norge (2014), a book about Zappa's concerts in Norway, co-written and edited by Ulf Hoberg, Erlend Sundin and Erland Bekkelund. [4]
