Patrice JoAnne Zappa (Baltimore, Maryland, 28 March 1951 [1]) was Frank Zappa's sister.

Biography

She was born in 1951 as the youngest child and only daughter of Francis Zappa (1905-1973) and Rose Marie Zappa (1912-2004). Her older brothers were Frank Zappa (1940-1993), Bobby Zappa (1943-2018) and Carl Zappa (1948-2020). Carl nicknamed her "Candy" because he thought she was sweet.

At the age of 13 she sang with FZ and Ray Collins at The Pit.

In 2003 Patrice published My Brother Was A Mother, a "Zappa Family Album" focusing mostly on how the Zappa's as a family fared from the 1940s until the early 1960s (Note: Bobby Zappa (as C.R. Zappa) wrote an article in 1968, "My Brother Is an Italian Mother" (Jazz & Pop)).

As Candy Zappa she released "To Be Perfectly Frank" in 2011 - a compilation of various sessions including numerous songs by FZ.[2]

She is featured on Nigey Lennon's "Reinventing The Wheel", which also features Mike Keneally on guitar.[3]
