Marc de Bel (1954) is a Belgian author of children's books. He was originally a teacher who started telling stories to his pupils and eventually started publishing these stories. He remains one of the most popular Flemish children book authors.

De Bel is a huge fan of Frank Zappa. In 2006, during the Zappa Plays Zappa concert in Brussels, Belgium, he was one of the numerous visitors and was interviewed for a Belgian news broadcast. When the journalist asked De Bel what makes Zappa's music so special De Bel answered: "The craziness, the wisdom and the mix between a healthy craziness that Zappa had, a strong philosophy and music that never sounds the same."
