Paul McCartney (1942) is a British rock singer and guitarist, best known as a member of The Beatles.

McCartney cited Freak Out! (1966) as an influence on The Beatles' Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967). Later Zappa in his turn called McCartney to ask him permission to parody the cover of "Sgt. Peppers" on We're Only In It For The Money? McCartney was surprised and told Zappa that he should talk to his lawyers. Zappa's lawyer and The Beatles' lawyers discussed the issue together and as a result it took several months before the album was finally able to come out.

In 1980 McCartney made a music video for his song "Coming Up". He dressed up as several celebrities, including Zappa on saxophone.
