Tom Tom Club was an American pop group, who started out as side project of Talking Heads. They scored hits with Genius Of Love and Wordy Rappinghood (1981). Adrian Belew played guitar on their debut album.

Interviewed by Edwin Pouncey for Sounds (23 January 1983) [1], Zappa was asked whether there were any current artists he admires: "One group that I like is Tom Tom Club and I like Grandmaster Flash."

In Ellen Oumano's book Movies For A Desert Isle (1987), Frank Zappa also named Genius Of Love by Tom Tom Club one of his favorite music videos: " There are people who make interesting videos, but I think for the most part they're in Europe. The only really amusing one that I've seen was a few years ago by Tom Tom Club called 'Genius in Love', with really nice animations." [3]
