James R. Jim Leavelle (August 23, 1920 - 29 August 2019) was an American detective and police officer. He was one of the survivors during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. From 1950 until 1975 he was part of the Dallas Police Department. Though retired, he still kept giving interviews to groups ranging from schools to media organizations.
