Roelof Kiers (1938-1994) was a Dutch film director and documentary maker. He was the first Dutchman allowed to film in China in 1971. He made documentaries about various Dutch politicians, the race riots in Detroit (1967) and filmed the only interview Indonesian politician Mohammed Hatta ever gave.

Kiers also directed the documentaries "Frank Zappa" (February 11, 1971) and " Frank Zappa Filmt 200 Motels" (December 23, 1971). Kiers' documentary film "Frank Zappa" (1971) caused so much controversy at the time that questions were asked in the Dutch House Of Commons, "De Tweede Kamer" about certain shocking images.

Dutch documentary maker Frank Scheffer dedicated his own documentaries about Zappa to Roelof Kiers.
