James Leavelle, featured on the album cover of "We're Only In It For The Money".

James R. Jim Leavelle (August 23, 1920) is an American detective and police officer. From 1950 until 1975 he was part of the Dallas Police Department. Though retired, he still kept giving interviews to groups ranging from schools to media organizations.

On November 24, 1963, Leavelle was assigned to escort Lee Harvey Oswald from the Dallas City Jail and was handcuffed to him when Jack Ruby shot Oswald in front of live television cameras.

Leavelle’s famous hat, suit, tie and handcuffs are on exhibit in the Sixth Floor Museum, located in the former Texas School Book Depository building in Dallas, Texas.

In addition, Leavelle is one of the survivors of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Both Leavelle and Lee Harvey Oswald can be seen on the album cover of We're Only In It For The Money, near the Statue Of Liberty. [1]
