Bülent Arel (23 April 1919 – 24 November 1990) was a Turkish composer and pioneer in electronic music. He was also active as a painter and sculptor. Arel started his career as a sound technician at Radio Ankara, which probably gave him a good foundation to start working as a pioneer / composer of electronic music... Together with Ilhan Usmanba and Ilhan Mimaroglu, Arel symbolizes the avant-garde of the older generation of contemporary Turkish music.
