Many of Zappa's songs, especially those within the "life on the road" continuity of the Flo & Eddie period, make references to towels and the process of stealing them from hotel rooms. These include:
- The suite featuring "I'm Stealing The Towels", "Dental Hygiene Dilemma" and "Does This Kind Of Life Look Interesting To You?" on 200 Motels revolve around Jeff Simmons stealing (and smoking) towels from a hotel room.
- Stage antics during "Dupree's Paradise" on You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 2 make reference to both Napoleon Murphy Brock and one Suzy Cohen stealing towels.
- The comedy routine "Dummy Up" on Roxy & Elsewhere in which Jeff Simmons is trying to convince Napoleon Murphy Brock to smoke a high-school diploma and a college degree also fits into this continuity to a degree.
- In the song "Dong Work For Yuda": "I need a dozen towels/so the boys can take a shower."
