Unto Mononen (October 23, 1930 - June 28, 1968) was a Finnish songwriter, composer and guitarist. In the 1950s, he wrote several tangos and waltzes that were very popular in dance halls. His best-known tango, Satumaa (Finnish Tango) was composed in 1955, but only became a hit when Reijo Taipale covered it.
Mononen, who coped with alcoholism, committed suicide in 1968, at age 37.

In 1974, Frank Zappa covered Satumaa (Finnish Tango), at the request of Matti Laipio, during his concert on 22 September 1974 at the Kulttuuritalo concert hall in Helsinki. It was later released on You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 2.
