Leonard Allen was a school friend of Frank Zappa, when he was living in Edgewood (15 Dexter Street), Maryland.

Frank Zappa in "The Real Frank Zappa Book" (1989): "Edgewood, Maryland, was sort of out in the country. It had a little woods and a creek with crawdads in it, just at the end of Dexter Street. I used to play down there with Leonard Allen."

Allen was equally interested in chemistry, and Zappa used to go over to his place to work on "experiments". During the same period in time, he had two other friends: Paddy McGrath and Paul "from Panama".[1]
