Bülent Arel (23 April 1919 – 24 November 1990) was a Turkish composer and pioneer in electronic music. He was also active as a painter and sculptor. Arel started his career as a sound technician at Radio Ankara, which probably gave him a good foundation to start working as a pioneer / composer of electronic music... Together with Ilhan Usmanba and Ilhan Mimaroglu, Arel symbolizes the avant-garde of the older generation of contemporary Turkish music.

Bülent Arel appears in the list of influences (though misspelled as "Bulent") in the sleeve of Zappa's debut album Freak Out! (1966) under the heading "These People Have Contributed Materially In Many Ways To Make Our Music What It Is. Please Do Not Hold It Against Them".
