Vincent Persichetti (1915-1988) was an American composer. He contributed many pieces for the symphonic bands that flourished in American high schools and colleges in the 1950s. He lived for many years in Philadelphia, where he taught at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music (now University of the Arts School of Music) and the Curtis Institute of Music.
