Elio e le Storie Tese (literally "Elio and the Strained Stories") are an Italian rock band, often abbreviated EelST. They are known for their eclectic and highly professional musicianship and comedic nature.

The group is clearly and declaredly inspired by Frank Zappa, both in music and lyrics. On their album "Tutti gli uomini del deficiente" (1999) the group covered Tell Me You Love Me. They also covered various songs by Zappa during concerts. And they toured with Ike Willis.

Lead singer Elio and the Zappa cover band Ossi Duri both contributed to a Zappa tribute album called "Gnam Gnam" (2005), where they covered Broken Hearts Are For Assholes, Sofa, City Of Tiny Lites, Dancin' Fool, Tell Me You Love Me, Cosmik Debris, Stick It Out and Florentine Pogen.
