Background Information

Larry LaLonde (Oakland, California, September 12, 1968) is an American guitarist for the alternative band Primus, along with Les Claypool and Jay Lane.

Lalonde claims Zappa's music to be one of this main influences, along with Snakefinger, East Bay Ray, Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, and his teacher Joe Satriani[1]. In an earlier interview[2], he said he wanted Primus to be a cross between Zappa and Dead Kennedys and that he thought Zappa was one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived: "My favorite guitar player ever is Frank Zappa. When I think of what makes a good guitar solo, Zappa's playing is the thing I think of. It's the ultimate example of how a guitar should sound."

Lalonde once said: "Frank Zappa taught me that rock and roll doesn't have to suck." [1]

He contributed to the homage album Zappa Picks By Larry Lalonde Of Primus, where he chose his favourite Zappa compositions and songs.

Lalonde is also interviewed in the documentary Cry Baby:The Pedal that Rocks the World.
