A celebration of 25 years of Frank Zappa's Music
Joel Thome conducts the music of Frank Zappa, featuring performances by Steve Vai, Dweezil Zappa, The Persuasions, Rockapella and Dale Bozzio.
Composer/bandleader/guitarist/sociologist Frank Zappa wrote the music, of course, but he doesn't perform it. He selected the program – from among an estimated 1200 compositions and some seventy albums, depending on how you're counting – with Joel Thome, who also conducted and arranged the pieces for orchestra and rock group.
Family, friends and fellow musicians were all on hand for this memorable performance, which was billed as a musical love test celebrating the iconoclast's fiftieth birthday year and his first quarter century of sophisticated semipopular entertainment.
