Warner Oland (October 3, 1879 - August 6, 1938) was a Swedish film actor who became world famous for his portrayal of detective Charlie Chan in the 1930s.
He can be seen on the cover of Tinseltown Rebellion. [1]
A well known Zappa quote, "The mind is like a parachute. It cannot function when it's not open.", was uttered decades earlier by Oland in "Charlie Chan at the Circus" (1936).
