The Spotnicks were a Swedish rock band, active between 1958 and 2019. They specialized in instrumentals, most of them covers, and performed in science fiction-themed costumes. They were one of the earliest Swedish rock 'n' roll bands and the first from their country to break through internationally. They scored hits with Orange Blossom Special (1962), The Rocket Man (1962), Hava Nagila (1962), Amapola (1963) and Karelia (1966).
In 1967, when Frank Zappa played in Sweden for the first time, (67/09/30 Stockholm Sweden Konserthuset), The Spotnicks were the opening act. [1]
In 1968, The Spotnicks covered Theme From Lumpy Gravy.[2]
