The Nutmegs were a 1950s American doo wop vocal group from New Haven, Connecticut. They are best known for their songs "Story Untold" (1955)[1] and "Ship of Love" (1956). The quintet was led by tenor Leroy Griffin and was signed to Herald Records.

Zappa mentions "my ship of love is ready to attack" in "Dog Breath, In The Year Of The Plague". Apart from the title there's no lyrical or musical resemblance with the Nutmegs' song "Ship Of Love".
