Ralph Humphrey, born in Berkeley, CA in 1944 recorded with the Don Ellis Orchestra in 1968 while still a student at California State College, Northridge, and joined the band in 1969, staying with Ellis until 1973.

Ralph provided drums for Over-Nite Sensation, Apostrophe ('), Roxy & Elsewhere, You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 1, You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 3, You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 4, You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 6, The Lost Episodes, and Läther; also for the Beat The Boots series disks Piquantique (BTB) & Unmitigated Audacity (BTB).
