Martin Lickert, who was Ringo Starr's chauffuer, upon returning from the limo with a box of tissues for Starr, was cast in the role of "Jeff" in 200 Motels (The Film) - the role originally intended for Jeff Simmons, who quit The Mothers just prior to filming. Lickert: "I never played any live gigs with The Mothers and I suppose that is one reason that they are still held in such high regard...my ability as any sort of guitarist has to be questioned". Martin did, however, provide bass and/or vocals for 200 Motels and Playground Psychotics, and can be seen in the Zappa movies 200 Motels (The Film), Video From Hell, & The True Story Of 200 Motels.

He later became a bookmaker and horse-owner, and then a barrister.

Died in March, 2006.
