Lynyrd Skynyrd were an American country rock band, who are best known for their hit song "Sweet Home Alabama" (1974). Their career was cut short by a tragic plane crash in 1977, in which three band members lost their lives.

During "Star Special", on BBC Radio 1 in 1980, Frank Zappa played their song, "Sweet Home Alabama".
