Lloyd Price (March 9, 1933 - May 6, 2021) was an American R&B singer, best known for his songs "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" (1952), "Stagger Lee" (1959), "Personality",[1] and "I'm Gonna Get Married" (1959).
Zappa and Lloyd Price
Cal Schenkel depicted Lloyd Price as part of the collage cut-outs on the cover of We're Only In It For The Money. He can be seen in the top center, underneath Lyndon B. Johnson and to the right of Ed Wynn. [1]
As a guest DJ on two radio shows, Frank Zappa played Lloyd Price's song "So Long" (1953) twice at two different occasions, respectively during a broadcast of Dr. Demento's radioshow (December 1973) and a broadcast on WLIR, Long Island (20 December 1979).
