Gregory Peck (April 5, 1916 – June 12, 2003) was an American actor, best known for his roles in films like "Spellbound" (1946), "The Guns Of Navarone" (1961), "Cape Fear" (1961), his Academy Award winning role in "To Kill A Mocking Bird" (1963) and "The Omen" (1976).

Peck was also known for his politically left-wing activism. He was a lifelong supporter of the Democratic Party. During Joseph McCarthy's witch hunts against Communists during the late 1940s and early 1950s Peck criticized McCarthy's politics. President Richard Nixon even added Peck on his notorious personal "enemies list" due to his liberal activism.

Link with Zappa

Frank Zappa named the character "Greggery Peccary" in The Adventures Of Greggery Peccary, as a pun on Gregory Peck, the American pig species "peccary" and Pope Gregory XIII, who created the Gregorian calendar (in the song Greggery Peccary also invents the calendar). Zappa's inspiration for the name was based on the fact that he had recently seen a movie with Gregory Peck on late night television before he composed the song[1].

Peck was also mentioned and thanked in the liner notes of The MOFO Project/Object (2006) album. [2]
