Frank Zappa: Pioneer Of Future Music, parts 1 & 2 is a 2007 documentary about Frank Zappa, directed by Frank Scheffer and produced by the Dutch broadcasting company VPRO. It specifically focuses on Zappa as a composer. It was first broadcast on the VPRO on 22 and 29 April 2007. The documentary is dedicated to both Zappa as well as Roelof Kiers. [1] The title refers to a quote by Nicolas Slonimsky, who once described Zappa as a "pioneer of future music".

This documentary is the third part in a trilogy. Some footage is similar to the first two parts, but it also adds a lot of new material, including the Teheran Symphony Orchestra in Iran performing Zappa's music.

Interviewees

Frank Zappa and Edgar Varèse are also interviewed through archive footage. The documentary shows additionally archive footage from Zappa's concerts, as well as then current footage of The Vault. [2]
