Zappa about Donald Trump

How have you managed to keep your integrity while becoming a successful businessman?
Zappa: "It's really easy. All you have to do is decide you don't want to be one of those guys. You don't make as much money, but you can certainly live well enough."

It's a bizarre thing – you ask kids what they want to be when they grow up, or what they want to do, and their answer is, "I want to make money." In a survey among high school students, more kids said Donald Trump was their hero than anybody else.
Zappa: "Yeah, but on the other hand, let's deal with it as a fact of life in America. I think that's a very good indicator of the failure of US education. Now if you add these two facts together, Donald Trump is the idol of American teens, and that teens can't read, write, or do arithmetic, what do we have?"

What?
Zappa: "A failure to communicate."

Frank Zappa, quoted in Frank Zappa 89-12, Interview by Elin Wilder for High Times, December 1989.

Moon Unit Zappa about her father and Trump

In an interview with Moon Zappa with The Spec, conducted on 8 July 2016 Moon was asked what her father would've thought about Trump?

Given your dad's low opinion of politicians and pompous people, I have to close by asking what you think he'd make of Donald Trump.

Moon Zappa: "The thing I will say (about Trump) is just because you have no one to answer to, it doesn't mean that you should be the person to be in charge of things. My father always said respect is something to be earned. It doesn't matter if you're the pope or a police officer or a teacher, it has to be earned. And you also have to be reasonable and think of the greatest good for the greatest number of people and to consider differences and really take that seriously. I just don't see that in Trump." [1]
