Charles Everett Koop (October, 14 1916 - February 25, 2013) was an American physician who was Surgeon General of the United States from 1982 to 1989, under President Ronald Reagan. His moralistic attitude towards AIDS and cigarette smoking -he wrote a report that concluded that nicotine has an addictiveness similar to that of heroin or cocaine- inspired Zappa to write the song Promiscuous.
Throughout his tour of duty, this "Doctor" has dispensed to the American public what I consider to be
unscientific information (from what appears to be a fundamentalist perspective) on a wide range of health
matters.
