Marvin Gaye (April 2, 1939 - April 1, 1984) was an American soul singer. He started his career as a member of Harvey and the Moonglows. By the early 1960s, he embarked on a solo career, scoring hits with How Sweet It Is (to Be Loved by You) (1964), It Takes Two (1966), Ain't No Mountain High Enough (1967), Your Precious Love (1967), I Heard It Through the Grapevine (1968), What's Going On? (1971), Inner City Blues (1971), Let's Get It On (1973) and Sexual Healing (1982). In 1984, he was murdered by his own father.
Two musicians who once recorded with Gaye were Preston Love and Emil Richards.
