Cosmo Alley

Cosmo Alley was a small club on Cosmo Street, Los Angeles. It was started in 1957 by Herb Cohen and Victor Maymudes. (They had previously run the Unicorn folk club). Cosmo Allley was popular with young actors and musicians. Lenny Bruce and Lord Buckley would often perform there. By the early 1960's the club was in financial trouble and Cohen fled the US for a few years. The Mothers performed there in 1965/66(?). It eventually changed its name into Bido Lido's.

Cosmo Alley is "advertised" by Frank Zappa in the artwork of Freak Out! under the header "Freak Out! Hot Spots"....
