Joe Satriani
Joe Satriani (b. July 15, 1956) is an American rock guitarist, composer, songwriter and record producer. He broke through with his album Surfing with the Alien (1987). Since 2008, he playes with the hard rock band Chickenfoot.
He has toured and recorded with Mick Jagger, Blue Öyster Cult and Deep Purple and was a musical mentor for Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett (Metallica), David Bruson (Counting Crows) and Larry LaLonde (Primus).

On the album Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson & Steve Vai: Live In Concert (1997), Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai and Mike Keneally covered Frank Zappa's My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama. [1]
Interviewed in Bill Kopp's Musocribe (7 February 2008), Satriani said: "I remember seeing Frank a few times, and always really enjoying when the music got simple. He would improvise on top of it. Those were my favorite Frank Zappa moments. I was never very much impressed with 'intense' arrangements, because they’re rather intellectual: you get a piece of paper out, you put a bunch of dots on it, and you hire someone and say, 'play that!'"
