Hoepla

Hoepla was a 1967 Dutch TV show, broadcast by the VPRO, produced by Willem de Ridder, Hans Verhagen, Wim T. Schippers, Wim van der Linden, Trino Flothuis and Gied Jaspars. It was an experimental show, mixing interviews (with Pete Townshend (The Who, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger), sketches with rock concert footage. It had a humorous, edgy style.

The show became infamous by featuring a nude woman in the second episode, which was a first in TV history. It caused scandal, many angry phone calls and people cancelling their subscription to the VPRO. Even in Dutch Parliament questions were asked demanding the show to be taken off the air. After the third episode, Hoepla was cancelled.

In some segments of Hoepla, music and concert footage by Jimi Hendrix, Soft Machine and Frank Zappa and The Mothers was shown. The Zappa segments were set to The Return Of the Son Of Monster Magnet.
