Chrissie Hynde

Chrissie Hynde (September 7, 1951) is an American rock singer, best known as a singer, vocalist, pianist and drummer for the band The Pretenders.

Link with Zappa

When interviewed by Dave Itzkoff in The New York Times on June 11, 2014 the reporter asked her if the induction of the band felt like a legitimization? Hynde said: "Some artists buy into it. They get their little award, and they're onstage crying, and I just think: Look at yourself. Get off the stage. To me it's disgusting. I don't understand how any self-respecting artist can recognize it as legitimate. If you want to look at the success of sales, look at McDonald's; they've sold a lot of their product. Imagine Frank Zappa crying because he got an award. Imagine Jimi Hendrix thanking everyone after he picked up his Grammy. It just wouldn't happen." [1]

During a December 6, 2014 concert she also paraphrased "A little nostalgia for the old folks!" from Zappa's Lumpy Gravy. [2]

On September 9, 2015 Hynde appeared on the Sunday morning show on CBS, wearing a Freak Out! shirt. She also wore the same shirt while being interviewed on the Conan O'Brien show. [3]
