Dave Coronado

Dave was the sax player for The Soul Giants, with Roy Estrada, Jimmy Carl Black, Ray Hunt (guitar), and Ray Collins. Ray Hunt left the band and Collins brought in Frank as a possible replacement. Coronado left the band as well, as FZ explained it, "Davy knew the truth that if you play original material you cannot work in a bar. He was afraid of being out of work, so he quit the band; and he was right, we couldn't get a fucking job anyplace." After Dave left, FZ assumed leadership of the band, changing their name to The Blackouts, Captain Glasspack and the Magic Mufflers, and - eventually - The Mothers.
