Ian Rankin (April 28, 1960) is a Scottish author, best known for his "Inspector Rebus" crime novels.
Rankin bought his first Zappa album when he was fourteen. He references Zappa a lot in his work and names him one of his favorite musical artists. [1] [2] [3]. He also tried in vain to like Lumpy Gravy and Uncle Meat, but eventually gave them away because they were too freaky, noisy and endless. [4].
