There are numerous citations, particularly since his death in October 2021, that bass player Deon Estus played with Frank Zappa:
Deon Estus did not play with Frank Zappa - such are the dangers of copying and pasting.
In an interview with Steve Cooper he explained:
Steve Cooper: What was it like playing with Zappa?
Deon Estus: I played with Zappa's band, Carlos Rios, Vinnie Colaiuta, I didn't do any touring with Zappa... I didn't go out on the road with him or record any stuff with him.
So Estus played a few sessions with Colaiuta, presumably after he left Zappa in 1981, prior to playing with Wham! in 1983.
Strangely the Cooper interview page has the "He also played with Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner, Frank Zappa,... " text although Estus states that was not the case.
