Haskell Wexler (Chicago, Illinois, February 6, 1922) is an American film director, best known for his film Medium Cool (1969), which featured music of The Mothers of Invention.

Later he was active as photographer for many of Zappa's video projects, like Video From Hell, The True Story Of 200 Motels and Uncle Meat (The Film).

His voice can be heard on the track Uncle Meat Film Excerpt.

In 1996 he was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He was also interviewed for Frank Scheffer's three part documentary series about Zappa, Frank Zappa: The Present Day Composer Refuses To Die (2000), Frank Zappa Phase II: The Big Note (2002) and Frank Zappa: Pioneer Of Future Music, parts 1 & 2 (2007).

Quote

"One of the aspects in Frank's music that I like (...) It's part of its character is that he's a humorist. He sees the weird, bizarre side of our culture and of ideas. And he takes a sort of diabolical pleasure in tweeking us with the words and with the music. (...) I felt that he had a principle, He had a really refined dignity, a sensibility about human beings that I responded to very much." - Haskell Wexler, interviewed in Frank Zappa: Pioneer Of Future Music, parts 1 & 2 (2007).
