SID Code
The SID Code[1] is a anti-piracy standard defined by IFPI[2] and Philips[3] in order to track the source of optical discs mastering and replication.
Mastering SID Code
Sometimes also refered to as LBR Code (Laser Beam Recorder Code), it indicates the master unit or stamper that was used for the disc production.
Example: Rykodisc RCD 10546 (Francesco Zappa), LBR Code = IFPI L901
Mould SID Code
The mould SID Code indicates the plant where the disc was manufactured and a serial number which can be set freely.
Example: Rykodisc RCD 10546 (Francesco Zappa), Mould Code = IFPI 2U3Q
Code 39[4] (barcode)
This barcode is used to encode alphanumeric characters (A through Z and 0 and 9) and a few other characters such as the dollar or minus signs.
Example: Rykodisc RCD 10546 (Francesco Zappa), Code 39 (decoded) = 049450
