Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013) was Prime Minster of Great Britain from 1979 until 1990. She was the first woman to be elected leader of the British Conservative Party and, after Sirimavo Bandaranaike (Sri Lanka, 1960), Indira Gandhi (India, 1966) and Golda Meir (Israel, 1969) the first woman to be elected Prime Minister.

In 1978, an advertisement campaign was launched in the United Kingdom by DiscReet to promote Frank Zappa's latest album Zappa In New York. A photo of Margaret Thatcher leaving her car was manipulated to make it seem as if she was carrying the record under her arm, with an eye-catching headline next to it: I heard 'Zappa In New York' but it didn't do a thing for me.
