Doug Moon was a rock guitarist, briefly active for Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart in the 1960s.
Frank Zappa
In 1963, Moon and Frank Zappa performed guitar on the track Speed Freak Boogie, recorded in Pal Studio in Cucamonga. [1]
Captain Beefheart
Moon was a guitarist in the original 1965-1966 line-up of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band. He left before the group recorded their debut album Safe As Milk (1967) and was replaced by Ry Cooder.
In 1969, during the Trout Mask Replica sessions, Moon performed acoustic guitar during the track China Pig. [2]
Moon was also interviewed in the documentary The Artist Formerly Known As Captain Beefheart (1993/1997).
