Sting, a/k/a "Mr. Sting," and born Gordon Sumner on 10/2/1951 in Wallsend, England, sat in with The Mothers on 3/3/1988 in Chicago, IL and provided vocal for Broadway The Hard Way, singing the song "Murder By Numbers" which originally appeared on the Police album, Synchronicity. In a thank-you note after the performance, Sting wrote, "Please mail me the sheet music for "The Idiot Bastard Son," you won't be sorry. Love, Mr. Sting." Recordings exist of Sting performing this on his '88 tour.

Sting was also mentioned and thanked in the liner notes of The MOFO Project/Object (2006) album. [1]
