Johan De Smet (1956) is a Belgian composer and musician, who is known for writing and performing music for many Belgian plays, operas and other stage acts. In the 1970s he founded his own punk band, The Simpletones, which gradually became an experimental orchestra. De Smet is also a frequent musical collaborator with Belgian cartoonist Kamagurka.
De Smet is a musical autodidact. He discovered modern classical music thru the music of Frank Zappa. [1]
