+ | Thanks, Maroual. I'm not sure of the differences between the EIHN version and the other versions I have (just two, one from YCDTOSAII and a bootleg called "Rondo Hatton Band"). I've only seen it annotated as a 23:24 polyrhythm over either 6/4 (or even 4/4 as in the case of the YCDTOSAII version). The 23 comes from the the "T'mershi Tuplet" and the 24 comes from the amount of 16th notes underneath it (as in 6 quarters worth of 16th notes in the 6/4 example). 23 could be the time signature in the EIHN version though, it does stand on its own in the beginning without a counter pulse that I can (at cursory listening) determine. I'm not an authority so your guess is as good as mine, at least until the ZFT starts selling scores again to the general public (if ever!). | ||

Hi, dkap here. I removed: *T'Mershi Duween - the main theme is in 23/24 [1] because 23/24 is not a time signature, but rather a reference to a polyrhythm of 23 notes played evenly over 24 units of rhythms/beats.
That's right. Now it seems to me that the EIHN (Everything Is Healing Nicely) version begins with something like 3 bars in 23/16 (which I misinterpreted to be 23/24), 3 bars 10/16, 3 bars 23/16, 8 bars 10/16, 4 bars 3/8, 4 bars 10/32. Then comes the combinations as per described by http://www.zappa-analysis.com/counterpoint.htm

Thanks, Maroual.
