The Four Deuces were a U.S. doowop band from Salinas, California. The band was led by Luther McDaniel. Their song WPLJ, with Here Lies My Love (1956) as B-side, were their only hit songs. Other singles, Down It Went / The Goose Is Gone and Yellow Shoes / Pretty Polly failed to make an impact and The Four Deuces disbanded in 1957.
Frank Zappa
Frank Zappa covered WPLJ on Burnt Weeny Sandwich (1970). He also covered the B-side Here Lies My Love as Here Lies Love, which ended up on You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 5.
WLPJ by the Four Deuces was included on the compilation record Frank Zappa's Jukebox.
