Ed Seeman (July 16, 1931 - February 4, 2025) was an American animator, photographer, painter, sculptor and film maker. He originally worked as a cell animator at Paramount Pictures on Popeye and Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoons. After World War II, he founded his own studio, Gryphon Productions, specializing in animated advertisements. Seeman later also directed and produced porn movies.
Ed Seeman and Frank Zappa
In 1967, Seeman made an animated TV short for the cough drop brand Luden's, Luden's Cough Drop Commercial, musically scored by Zappa, with additional help from Dick Barber, who provided snork sounds. It won a Clio Award for Best Use of Sound. Zappa later included it on his album The Lost Episodes, under the title The Big Squeeze.
