John Cooper Clarke (1949) is a British performance poet, who rose to fame during the punk period in the 1970s and 1980s.

Zappa played Clarke's "Psycle Sluts" (1978) as guest DJ on WPIX, New York (21 November 1979) and again in 1980 during the Star Special on BBC Radio 1.
