The Plastics were a Japanese new wave group, active from 1976-1981.

During WPIX, New York on November 19, 1979 Zappa played "Tough On You" by The Plastics as a guest dj.

Zappa played The Plastics' song "Robot" in the "Star Special", where he was a guest DJ on BBC Radio 1 in 1980:

"When I was in New York I went to this, er, club, called The Mudd Club, and I was a disc jockey there for a night and I brought in a bunch of records and tried them out on the clientele at this particular establishment.
